My buddy George highly recommended this place - Brown Sugar kitchen in Oakland where it serves its famous fried chicken and cornmeal waffles. And I finally get a chance to try it out last weekend. The line is usually long on weekends, but it's worth the wait.
I like almost everything British except their food. However, I discovered crumpets when I was visiting Australia in 2008. I had never seen it in HK & Canada while I was living in both places (22 years of my life in total). This became my favorite breakfast food ever since. It tastes best toasted with Nutella and bananas. I was stoked to find it at Trader Joe's yesterday.
Girls night out last weekend with Urja and Nicole. Nicole and I ordered a pitcher of beer (it was half-priced), and Urja had this interesting looking mango champagne.
Had lunch with Sally and Lichi at a tapas/brewery place nearby the W hotel today. Sally and I both ordered this flat bread loaded with sausage, eggplant, spinach, and pine nut. It was yummy, but our conversation was even more delicious! :)
I love Brussels sprouts. Found this beautiful thing outside of Wholefoods at Berkeley. The whole stalk costs $3. A must buy of the day.
On a side note: I think the Berkeley Wholefoods has better (and more) deals than any other Wholefoods in the Bay Area. Hmm… Am I really this bias these days?
I never really like Chinese food in America, and I can go without it for months. But once or twice a year I get to have some high quality, real Chinese food — Cantonese food to be exact (and yes, there is a little bit of bias) where my uncle and aunt pick for family gathering. Look at the roast duck!!! It was delectable.
Had Sichuan food with Susan. We ordered this pork with garlic sauce, and it looked so different than what we usually have!
I went to Saizo again for Izakaya last night. It used to be my favorite Izakaya place before I discovered many others in the area. I am just glad it wasn’t a business dinner again on a Friday evening. Shared this set of Sake samplers with JB and Christine.
